The Cosmic October
Hello, dear ones!
The magickal month of October is here, and it promises to deliver to us powerful cosmic events all month long. Some significant dates to remember during this energetic time frame are:
Friday the 13th - ( If you know you know)
October 14th - The “Ring of Fire” solar eclipse
October 20-21- Orionid meteor shower
October 28th - A lunar eclipse
October 31st - Samhain/Halloween

Let’s explore a few of these events together to gain a better understanding of what they are and how you can take part during these times.
Firstly, Friday the 13th! This day is infamous for being an unlucky day. No doubt you have heard of this superstition and even seen or heard of horror movies related to this date. But what if I were to tell you that the number 13 and Friday (before the fear agenda came to be) had positive connotations? The number 13 is a number related to feminine energy, the moon, and the lucky number of the Great Goddess. 13 is the number of the annual moon cycles and the number of menstrual cycles in a year. In Jewish culture, Friday was a day of celebration held in honor of Shekinah. This is the divine feminine or the female aspect of God. The Goddess. Friday is also sacred to Oshun of the Yoruba path, and also to Frig, The Norse Goddess of fertility and love. If you have generally been one who has thought of this day as unlucky or just paid no particular attention to it, perhaps this year you might consider honoring the Goddess in some way or just make it a day where you honor the feminine energy by honoring the women in your community.

Secondly, let’s take a look at some spiritual meanings behind a solar eclipse. It has long been known as a time of renewal and new beginnings. The moments when the sky begins to darken could signify the ending of a cycle and the transition into a new season and time in your life. This is a time of beautiful and creative energy. Take bold moves toward your goals knowing that the energy of this solar eclipse can support you in doing so. Eclipses are also known to be spiritual portals! You will most likely experience a heightened sense of intuition and emotions. Make sure to ground yourself during this event to be able to get the most out of it. Lastly, and certainly not least, let’s talk about Halloween/Samhain!
Not only is this such a fun holiday, but it is equally if not more very powerful. As a lot of you may know Samhain (Sow-en) is the origin of Halloween. Its translation means “Summer’s End” It begins at sunset on October 31st and ends at sunset on November 1st. This is also known as the Day of the Dead and All Saints Day. This is such a beautiful time to honor and venerate your ancestors. The belief is that the veil between the living and the dead is so thin that the dead can walk in our world and visit their kin during this time. I hold to the belief that our ancestors are always with us, and I believe the energy during Samhain offers us an opportunity to connect with our ancestors on a deeper level. This would be a great time to begin your journey with your ancestors consciously and intentionally if you have not yet done so. Create a space for them, and welcome them into your space. Ancestor altars do not have to be difficult. Research some sources online and do what feels right for you. This is a great time of celebration as we and the earth are beginning a transition into the winter and deep energetic rest.
There will be a lot of powerful energy flowing this month, and that’s okay. It may affect your sleep, emotions, and communication. Just know and hold to the fact that these events are all good and have good for you. I trust that we all will experience, let go, and receive all that there is for us this month. Remember to breathe, ground yourself, and quiet your mind so you can take full advantage of all that these cosmic events and Holy days have in store for you.
